Translating the Trends

Don’t you just love flipping through you favorite magazines or perusing their online sites for all of the inspiring outfit ideas. For many, it’s cool to know that oxblood is a major player in this season’s color palette or that pairing day and evening pieces is a really fun way to punch up an outfit, but gals may think, what does that mean for my wardrobe? So, you go check out a magazine… there’s just one little problem…the examples given are almost never available in plus sizes. More often than not, curvy girls are left to sort things out on our own.

So I’ve decided to do regular features that will translate the trends. I’ll take a story that I find fun an inspiring from a magazine and do a curvy girl version. I saw this How to Layer Vests and Coats story on Lucky.com and loved it…so here it is, big girl edition.

Pair #1 LeatheretteVest- Eloquii, Trench- DKNY

Pair#2 Print Vest- Macy’s, Parker- Joe Brown

Pair #1 Faux Fur Vest- Talbots, Coat- Lafayette 148

Pair #2 Moto Vest- Forever 21, Sweater Coat- Simply Be

Plus size features in magazines need to do a little better than “Here are 3 pair of pants to flatter your figure” for plus sizes readers! Let me know what you guys think!
