It’s funny, nothing brings my patriotism to a flag waving, yelling at the television screen frenzy like the Olympics. So, I can be all “GO USA!” however, when it comes to fashion – plus size fashion to be exact, the Brits are kind of kicking our asses.
Yes, yes… there are some really great American brands that are making plus fashion a priority but when it comes to being truly forward, my dollars more often than not, are swimming across the pond.
UK retailer Evans, whose Beth Ditto capsule collection a few years back literally left me clutching my pearls has since taken another very forward step tapping designer brand Clements Ribeiro to create a plus size line. Their third capsule ranges layers on to autumn and like previous seasons it celebrates curves in sensual designs, materials and prints. This collection looks great. I need that cream and black dress in my life!
I have been forking over my dollars to UK brands for some time now. The biggest factor is the cuts. North America is starting to catch the plus size wave, however, it seems the UK has mastered plus "sizes". I have yet to find anything this side of the earth that fits my curves like an Evans London tunic!
