FFFWeek Day 3 and 4 – It’s A Wrap!

The Full Figured Fashion Week runway shows were incredible. The first was the Independent Designer Showcase. If ever there was a question about the validity of plus size designers, this show stomped them out! Incredible shapes, silhouettes, color, fashion forward, on trend, contemporary happiness for my soul.

A few of my favorites where Ashley Nell Tipton – I literally wanted to wear every single piece. Pastel polka dot harem pants? Seriously, yes please! ANT Is cool, fun and chic. Look out for my interview with her in the upcoming Slink Magazine.

Another favorite was Youtheary Khmer. Really pretty pieces, easy to wear, great color. Other standouts for the night included 17 Sundays (you already know a favorite of mine) and Chinoo Designs. Fashion forward options ladies, they are coming!

 Indie Runway Shows

Me and Gwen, Me and Ashley Nell Tipton

Above is what I wore to the Indie show. As a PR girl it’s sort of a rule, we all wear black to events. I think it must’ve come from some wildly inappropriately dressed intern at a major event many moons ago. So as we are groomed, the rule is black. I try to make it as fun as possible so I loved the gold sequined sleeve on this jumper from ASOS Curve (you can get it here).

And now onto the Retailer Showcase…

It’s really fantastic to see retailers that are usually “competitors” joining together for the sake of the industry as a whole. Working in marketing it’s often that brands don’t want to align with an event that another brand is sponsoring. Which, honestly – doesn’t benefit anybody. Nearly all of the major retailers came and brought fantastic pieces and supported FFFWeek, it was a beautiful thing.

My favorite parts of the show were Lane Bryant’s aways smashing lingerie presentation, Evans UK had lots of gorgeous pieces I want to own and Evie Foster’s tie-dye silk harem pants below with the flowy tank…seriously this is what I want to look like all summer long!

My favorite outfit of the night worn by Gaelle from Paris – A MAZ BALLS.

Me and bestest friend Meeka Johnson, Gwen, Beck/Manfattan giving me FACE, Me and the beauteous Allie McGevna

Above is what I wore to the Retailer’s show. Again black but a little lace, a little sparkle to keep it interesting. I love how this skirt photographs. The coloring is more gold but it appears purple on film. Lace top is from Old Navy, Necklace a gift from Morocco, Skirt ASOS Curve.

All in all, working with the FFFWeek team has been an incredible experience. The brand continues to grow, the media becomes more and more receptive of the idea that fat girls are fully capable of looking amazing and the fashion industry is coming to understand that we spend billions of dollars and that ignoring a customer with desire and money is just bad business.

Onward and upward! See ya next year!!

  1. Wow wow wow! I have to get to this event. Every year I end up visiting some other country, when what I need is a trip to NYC during FFFWeek. 🙂

    Cute outfits!

Thank you for sharing some of the runway photos.

Youthekary Khmer is a fave. I have a big feeling she is going to rocket into the stratosphere.
